How to use:

About the pest

The pear gall midge (Contarinia pyrivora), is a specialist pest of pear crops. Adults emerge in spring, laying eggs in developing flower buds and young fruit. Larvae feed inside the fruitlets, causing internal damage, deformation and premature drop. Infestations can lead to substantial yield loss and unmarketable fruit. The pest is often first identified by early fruit distortion, or unexpected fruit drop soon after petal fall. Targeted monitoring enables growers to detect activity early and plan control before larval damage occurs.
