This pheromone lure targets male pea midge, (Contarinia pisi), a key pest of field peas and fava beans. By intercepting males early in the season, it supports reliable monitoring and informed timing of control measures.

How to use:

Each lure provides effective attraction throughout the flight period, from late spring throughout summer.

Use with delta traps mounted on poles in the crop at 5m intervals,. A threshold of 300 midges per trap is recommended to guide control action.

About the pest

The pea midge (Contarinia pisi) is a significant pest of field peas and fava beans. Adult midges emerge in late spring, laying eggs on developing flower buds. The larvae feed inside the buds, preventing pod formation and reducing yields. Infestations are often first noticed as distorted or shrivelled flowers, poor pod set, and uneven crop development. Peak activity typically coincides with the onset of flowering. Early detection is critical, as control measures are only effective during a narrow window before larvae enter the buds.
