This pheromone lure is designed to attract both male and female pea and bean weevil (Sitona lineatus), helping to detect early activity and protect emerging pea and fava bean seedlings from feeding damage.

How to use:

Each lure provides consistent attraction across the flight period, beginning early in the spring.

Use with cone traps or pitfall traps at a rate of five traps per hectare, evenly spaced throughout the crop. A threshold of 30 weevils per trap indicates the need for control action.

About the pest

The pea and bean weevil (Sitona lineatus), is a common early-season pest of peas, beans, and other legumes. Adults feed on seedling leaves, creating distinctive U-shaped notches along the edges. Larvae then attack the roots, reducing nitrogen fixation and weakening the plants. Activity typically starts from late winter through spring, often before the crop has fully established. Monitoring is key to preventing yield losses, as damage can affect plant vigour well before symptoms are obvious in the canopy.
